Roasted Cauliflower in a Gochujang or Sriracha Sauce

Cauliflower is by far my favorite veggie – I love it raw on a crudite tray, in soup or a salad, a stir-fry, pizza crust, cauliflower rice or roasted after mixing with a delicious and flavorful sauce. There are many ways to use this versatile veggie and roasting is a cooking method I especially enjoy.

This may not be a dish for New Year’s but certainly any other day of the year when you want something lighter and meatless 🙂

Roasted Cauliflower in a Gochujang Sauce

  • head of cauliflower, trimmed and broken into florets
  • red onions, sliced are a nice addition
  • 2 heaping tbsp. plus 2 heaping tsp. gochujang (I love this Korean paste)
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. honey

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine all of the ingredients (to taste) in a large bowl and mix well. Pour the cauliflower on a baking sheet (with or without parchment paper) and roast for about 30 minutes.

Remove and serve over rice pilaf, jasmine or Gandy Dancer’s rice. Optional condiments served on the side can include sliced green onions, chili oil, gochujang sauce and soy sauce for a little extra “kick”.

Roasted Cauliflower in a Sriracha Sauce

  • 1 head of cauliflower, trimmed and broken into florets
  • 2 tbsp. real maple syrup
  • 2-3 tbsp. sriracha (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper (optional)
  • green onions to garnish

Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper (if you don’t want a messy baking sheet).

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Pour the cauliflower onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for about 30 minutes or until tender.

Serve over rice pilaf and enjoy!

  1. Fantastic recipe idea. You’re my Gochujang cooking queen. We also love cauliflower and this recipe is soon to be made. How about deep fried battered cauliflower dipped in Gochujang mayo.

    • Yes, to deep fried cauliflower. The Cheesecake Factory Restaurant chain makes a delicious deep fried cauliflower and I have their recipe. Maybe it is time to make it and post … Thanks Ron and Happy New Year!

  2. A few years ago, when cauliflower became the biggest trend, I ended up cooking so much of it for different clients, to the point I couldn’t look at it anymore. But your tasty dishes make me want to buy one. Love the seasonings you’ve used. 🙂

    • Thanks Mary – I grew it a couple of years but no matter how diligent I was about looking for the tiny orange eggs I frequently ended up with caterpillar worms. They hide real good in cauliflower florets and I don’t like that kind of protein 🙂
