Many have heard of the Cobb Salad which is a main-dish American salad that is arranged in sections where each person puts together their own salad. The sections can include various types of greens, tomatoes, avocados, bacon, chicken, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, a dressing of your choice and any other ingredient you might want to include. I just checked and I have not posted my recipe yet for my Cobb Salad which surprises me. Here I ago again, digging through my files and I will post it soon I am sure!
What a great idea to carry that same theme in a turkey burger. A burger is a burger until you add the condiments and then your burger becomes unique. I’m not sure where I saw this burger but it was from an advertisement for Butterball turkey burgers. I make my own burgers and if you would like the recipe go here. As a matter of fact I always have these in my freezer – I make a bunch and freeze them individually so whenever I have a craving there is always one available. Or you can certainly buy them frozen at your local grocery. Mine are much better though 🙂
The Cobb Turkey Burger, Adapted
- Onion, pretzel or kaiser rolls, cut in half and toasted on your grill
- turkey burgers (see Turkey Burgers)
- Dijonnaise (you can buy it or make your own: 1 cup mayonnaise, 3 tbsp. Dijon and 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice) for today’s burger I used a bacon flavored mayo
- shredded lettuce or use a leaf of butter lettuce or romaine
- red onion, thinly sliced
- tomatoes, thinly sliced
- crumbled blue cheese or a cheese of your choice
- turkey or regular bacon, cooked and chopped or leave it whole (I like to use Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon)
- avocado slices
- hard-boiled egg slices (this did not sound good at all)
- micro greens
Prepare your grill. Brush some olive oil on each roll half and toast for just a minute. Spread with a little Dijonnaise or a condiment of your choice. Top the bottom with lettuce, tomato and onion slices. It is important that everything is sliced thinly, otherwise you will have a lopsided burger.
Grill your burger as to how you like it cooked, should reach around 165°F for turkey. I add the cheese when the temperature is about 158°. Sprinkle on a thin layer of blue cheese, close the lid and continue to cook until the cheese melts for another minute or two.
Place your burger on top of the onion slice. Add the bacon bits, avocado slices and finish with a few micro greens. Cover with the top of roll and serve. Delicious!

Hey Aunt JuJu
So a burger that also gives a few of my servings of vegetables for the day. Great concept. Not sure if I can pin it under healthy recipes, but it is close. Thanks for sharing with Fiesta Friday#72 and thanks for the shout out. Have a great weekend. Happy FF! :)) BTW did you change your theme?? looks great.
Thanks Quinn – sure it’s healthy – its’ a turkey burger and serve it without the bun! You’re quite welcome – I still want to make your salad! No, same theme!
Ok I’m convinced. I wll pin it under healthy. :))
What a grand idea – a turkey burger and cobb salad all in one! It looks pretty healthy, I’d probably eat it without the bun, trying to cut back on the carbs, “trying” being the operative word here :). Enjoy your weekend,
