Spinach Salad With a Sweet and Sour Dressing or an Irish Mist Dressing

Both of these salad dressings are excellent to serve over spinach.  One recipe is sweet and the other recipe comes from my Dad which has a liqueur in it.

Spinach Salad

Sweet and Sour Dressing:

  • 1/8 cup sugar (or less)
  • 1 tsp. dried, minced onioin, soaked in a little water to rehydrate it
  • pinch of dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp. water
  •  2 tbsp. ketchup
  • 2 tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/2 cup canola oil

Irish Mist Dressing:

  • 1/4 cup dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup Irish Mist Liqueur
  • 3 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 3 tbsp. honey
  • 6 tbsp. canola oil

Combine ingredients and serve over spinach.  I like to add bacon bits, croutons, mushrooms and maybe some hard boiled eggs chopped up.
