Boneless Hams in the Slow Cooker Four Ways

Here are three (now four) recipes I have tried over the years.  These recipes are so easy to make using a slow cooker and only take about 5 to 6 hours.  You only want to heat the hams to 140°F and allow the marinade to soak in.  The largest slow cooker I have will only hold up to a 6 pound ham and no more.

I just added a fourth recipe that sounds really good but I have not tried it yet,  see below (12-26-12).   If you want to cook a bigger ham see my post Boneless Cola Ham for a recipe to cook an 8 pound ham.

Boneless Ham with Coke

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp. ground mustard
  • 1 tsp. prepared horseradish
  • 4 tbsp. regular coke, divided (I use more)
  • 1 boneless smoked ham (5-6 lbs) cut in half

Combine the sugar, mustard, horseradish and 2 tbsp. coke; rub over ham.  Place in a 5-quart slow cooker, add remaining coke over ham.

Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours or until the meat themometer reads 140°F.

  • honey and pineapple juice
  • 5-6 lb. boneless smoked ham, cut in half
  • maraschino cherries

Drizzle the honey and pineapple juice all over the ham and then pierce it with some whole cloves stuck in maraschino cherry pieces.

Cook on low for about 5 hours.

Boneless Ham with Ginger Ale

  • 5-6 lb. boneless smoked ham, cut in half
  • 1-1/2 cups ginger ale (I use less)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

Place the two halves in the slow cooker.  Pour ginger ale all over the ham.  Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours or until heated through.

Combine the honey, mustard, cloves and cinnamon; stir until smooth.  Spread over the ham and cook an additional 30 minutes longer.

The casing has been removed  from a 6 lb. boneless ham.  It has also been cut in half and the ginger ale poured over it.  It just fits my slow cooker, so do not buy any bigger size of ham.

I just read a new recipe from a recent Taste of Home magazine with a pineapple sauce that sounds very good.  Even though I have not tried it yet, it looks like a good one!  Remember, all of these recipes are ideas and can be adapted to your taste.  I probably change most recipes except for baking recipes which I follow pretty closely.

Boneless Ham with Crushed Pineapple

  • 5 -6 lb. fully cooked boneless ham
  • 1 can (20 oz.) unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. mustard

Cut ham in two and place in a 6-quart slow cooker.  Combine the rest of the ingredients in a small saucepan, stirring until the cornstarch is dissolved.  Bring to a boil and pour over ham.  Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
