This was one of my Dad’s favorite salads, especially for the holidays. Unfortunately, I don’t have his recipe but this version makes me want to make it again for next year. See also my recipe https://cookingwithauntjuju.com/?s=waldorf+salad&submit=Search from the California Kitchen Restaurant.

Waldorf Salad
This is a salad that you can make your own. Use whatever ingredients you like and the quantities as well. I did cut this recipe in half.
- 2 Granny Smith apples, cored and diced
- 1 Red Delicious apple, cored and diced
- 1 Asian pear, cored and cubed
- 1-1/2 stalks celery, diced
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds (I used pistachios)
- 1 cup golden raisins
- 1 cup seedless green grapes, halved – these were the biggest grapes I have ever seen and they were crunchy and sweet!
- 1-1/2 cups sweetened dried cranberries
- 1-1/4 cups plain yogurt (I used organic Greek yogurt)
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Combine the apples, pear, celery, almonds, golden raisins, grapes and cranberries. In a separate bowl stir together the yogurt, white and brown sugars, mayo, lemon juice and cinnamon. Pour the dressing over the fruit mixture and stir gently until evenly coated.

Ooooh, all of this looks good. I love a Waldorf salad. Hugs.
Thanks – this was a perfect salad for dinner and even breakfast the next morning 🙂
Interesting version of this classic salad. I like the use of different apples and Asian pear in it. I often add pecans or walnuts, but really like your use of pistachios. The turkey bowl is so perfect for the holiday! 🙂
You can make this salad to suit your taste. Asian pear is sometimes an ingredient in Korean cooking too. Pistachios are a favorite – not much of an almond lover. Yes, I low the bowl too – was perfect to serve the Waldorf salad in 🙂
I love this Waldorf salad because of all the different ingredients. It is worth all the work!
I made it the day before and it was good for a couple of days – thanks for sharing 🙂
This is what I call a fully loaded salad. Like all the different tastes and textures.
Yes, this salad is loaded with lots of ingredients. But it’s a salad you can make your own and it was delicious 🙂
sounds delicious!
I will probably make this a regular dish on my holiday table, in memory of my dad and because it is so good 🙂
