Apple Cider Autumn Sangria

Yes, I am still using my apple gifts and this Sangria was an excellent choice. It reminded me of when we lived in a new neighborhood, in a brand new home with a mixture of young families and older ones such as Gene and me. Beginning with Halloween we frequently would celebrate the occasion (or no occasion) with special beverages, appetizers or cookies. This Sangria is fancier than what we often served such as hot mulled cider or wine, hot buttered rum or maybe just a glass of good scotch. No matter, it was the neighborly thing to do!

Wow – this is dangerously delicious! I love this version with all the fresh fruit and the white wine instead of the traditional red wine used when you think of sangria. Then of course there is also brandy and orange juice for additional goodness. This is a Fall beverage for sure…

For more apple recipes just search “apples, applesauce or apple cider.” I have way to many posts to list all of the apple recipes I have!

Great beverage to serve on any Fall day/night!

Cinnamon stick is optional to garnish…

Apple Cider Autumn Sangria

I also made apple cider ice cubes so the sangria would not get diluted and lose such a wonderful flavor.

  • 2 cinnamon sticks, plus more for serving (optional)
  • 1 medium apple, thinly sliced and cut in half (I used Cortland)
  • 1 medium pear, thinly sliced and cut in half (I used Bartlett)
  • 1 medium orange, thinly sliced and cut in half
  • 2/3 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle white wine (I used Pinot Grigio Cupcake)
  • 2 cups apple cider plus apple cider ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • splash of club soda for serving

Combine all of the ingredients, except for the club soda in a large pitcher. Refrigerate for 3-24 hours.

Pour the sangria and fruit into glasses. Add a splash of club soda if desired and garnish with a stick of cinnamon, optional.

  1. This is such a great take on Sangria! I plan on making it for Thanksgiving day.
I love the idea of the apple cider ice cubes. I can see how it can be used in simple lemondae or ice tea as well. 🙂

  2. What a great drink to serve during the upcoming holidays. Sounds delicious!
