I had this smoothie over at a neighbor’s recently and I really enjoyed it. I bought the book ‘Superfood Smoothies’ where she found the recipe versus just getting a copy of this yummy drink from her.
Well, this meant a trip to Whole Foods because of some new ingredients such as ‘maqui berry’ and ‘goji berry’. I knew this was going to be expensive but I liked this smoothie a lot and without a doubt I would use the ingredients again. Nothing like spending a lot of money on a recipe and not making it again! I have done that before…
Talk about so many good things for you and antioxidants galore!
Superfood Mixed Berry Smoothie
- 1-1/2 cups mixed berries, frozen
- 1 cup ice, crushed
- 1 cup ripe pear, chopped (I used the whole pear)
- 1/4 cup avocado (I used the whole avocado)
- 1/3 cup goji berries (soak 2 hours before using to soften)
- 1 tbsp. flaxseed powder
- 2 tsp. maqui berry powder
- 1-1/2 cups almond milk
- sweetener, to taste (I used 1 tbsp. honey)
Blend all of the ingredients together until smooth. The goji berries do not quite grind up so next time I will soak them in water for a few hours before adding. Sweeten to taste with honey, Splenda or Stevia which the author likes to use.
