I like this recipe because it is served whole with a lemon butter sauce poured over it. Very easy and in less than 15 minutes you have a great side dish. Be sure to get a cauliflower head that looks nice and white. This recipe comes from a neighbor, back in my condo days.
Steamed Whole Cauliflower with Lemon Butter Sauce
- 1 head cauliflower (2 lbs.)
- 1 cup water
Trim the cauliflower at the root end and place in a saucepan that is tall enough to hold the cauliflower upright. Add the cup of water and bring to a boil; cover and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cauliflower is tender but still somewhat firm. Be careful not to let the water boil away as the cauliflower could burn. Place on a serving platter and keep warm.
Lemon Butter Sauce:
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 tbsp. unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- chives or parsley, chopped, for garnish
Bring the water to boil and add the rest of the ingredients except for the garnish. Mix thoroughly and pour it over the cauliflower. Garnish with chives or parsley.

Comment: When I made this recently I used the leftovers and made Penne with Cauliflower and Onions. The addition of a little lemon made this recipe quite good.
