Crab Legs

When crab legs are on sale at my local grocery I sometimes will serve these as a special treat.

Crab Legs

  • allow 2-3 legs per person
  • water to cover the crab legs
  • 2 tbsp. salt per 6 quarts of water
  • 12 oz. beer
  • lemon, sliced
  • unsalted, melted butter for serving

Soak crab legs in cold water for 1 hour.  I then like to cut them up  at their joints, and also cut them up the sides for easier handling when it is time to eat them.

Bring a big pot of water to boil; add salt, beer, lemon slices and crab legs.  Return to boiling; turn off heat and let sit for 10 minutes.  Drain and serve with unsalted butter.
