Yellow Cake

This is the yellow cake recipe I have adapted  that was used in the Fondant Cake baking class I took at Zingerman’s Bakery.   I like to make cakes but often I use a boxed mix such as Betty Crocker,  as I spend more time decorating the cakes.  This is an exceptional recipe that I will use again … Continue reading

Fondant Cake

I made this cake in one of Zingerman’s Baking Classes.  The classes are normally 4 hours long, there are about 12 students and you make everything from scratch.  A lot of fun and the best part is you take home lots of goodies.  In this case the whole cake I made plus extra fondant.  Well worth … Continue reading

Lemon Beehive Cake

This was a special cake for my youngest sister who lives 1500 miles away.  We get together a few times a year and I just happened to be visiting on her birthday.  I had this cake pan from Williams Sonoma for some time and finally the perfect occasion to make it.   It was a delicious … Continue reading

Irish Cream Cheesecake With Mixed Berries

This cheesecake is my absolute favorite and I love to serve it with fresh berries rather than a sweetened sauce.  I have a weakness for cheesecake so I always make sure there are enough people to eat it so I do not have seconds! I always use the graham cracker crust but I have provided … Continue reading

Texas Sheet Cake

Anyone who likes chocolate will enjoy this cake-like brownie.  Very easy to put together and serves quite a few when you are entertaining.  There are many different versions of this recipe and my recipe goes back perhaps 35 years.  I will eventually try a Weight Watcher’s version and post it.

Buttercream Decorator Icing

This is the icing I use to decorate all of my cakes.  First you have your cake, then my recipe  Sanders Buttercream Frosting  and finally this decorator icing for all of the flowers, trim, and so on. The icing is the tractor itself and the frosting is the background.

Royal Icing as “Glue” or to Decorate Cookies

Royal icing is what we used to ‘glue’ our gingerbread  houses we made every holiday season.  I have included two recipes; one for the ‘glue’ and one to decorate cookies. This was our last year making gingerbread houses.  My grandson and son-in-law came up with this cute idea for a Ford truck!  Only one family participated. … Continue reading

Sanders Buttercream Frosting

This recipe comes from a cooking class I took a long time ago.  This frosting is not too sweet and is good for any cake you might make.  I used this on many, many, many cakes and still do. The frosting is the yellow part of the cake and the icing ( see my recipe Buttercream … Continue reading

Flower Pot Dirt Cake

This is a fun cake to make with the kids.  I did this with a couple of grandkids, Megan and Hunter,  to give to their mom on Mother’s Day!
