Fondant Cake

I made this cake in one of Zingerman’s Baking Classes.  The classes are normally 4 hours long, there are about 12 students and you make everything from scratch.  A lot of fun and the best part is you take home lots of goodies.  In this case the whole cake I made plus extra fondant.  Well worth the money!  To date I have attended this class, one on pizza, tiramisu and dinner rolls.  Do they ever know how to bake!  I highly recommend their numerous classes if you are ever in the area.

Our names were put on the cardboard – can’t get the cakes mixed up!

I am going to break this down into three separate recipes:  Yellow Cake which is delicious if you enjoy making cakes from scratch.  The Swiss Buttercream is very good and see also Sanders Buttercream Frosting (I have used this frosting for over 30 years).   Fondant, which is the final coating of this great cake (I really need to make this again).
