The honeybees are very busy here in Michigan as they gather pollen from the remaining flowers still blooming. This bee is enjoying my lavender flowers which is a favorite. Food is scarce now and they do become a bit aggressive in their search for “sugar”. Winters are long here and they are trying to be prepared for the upcoming cold months.
Have you ever sat in a football stand and had bees swarming around your “sweet drink” ? I remember those Fall days – so glad when we gave up our treasured University of Michigan football tickets years ago. By the way, my alma mater is doing fantastic this year – GO BLUE!!!

Bees like apple season, too. 🍃🍎🐝
Most definitely – bees know where the sugar is 🙂
What beautiful pictures. I didn’t know bees could be so cute – and so industrious! Thanks for sharing
Thank you TJ – bees are indeed “cute” – it’s the wasps I don’t like. I got stung by one not too long ago. They like to nest under the railing on my deck and I got a little too close 🙂
Great photo! 🙂
Thanks Ronit 🙂
bees are the best! and so is lavender 🙂
Lavender and bees are like “two peas in a pod” – they are meant for each other 🙂
My lavender plants are covered with native honeybees when they are in bloom. It almost looks like the lavender is alive there are so many. It’s such a joy to watch especially since the native bees are threatened. Since there aren’t any orchards near me, European honeybees are in the minority.
Wow – I bet that is quite a sight to see! I harvested the first round of blooms and left the second burst of color for the bees as the weather was turning colder and they needed all the pollen they can get 🙂
