Fondue pots come in various sizes and each has a purpose, at least they did for me.  The small copper one is perfect to keep sauces warm, the green one is great for chocolate fondue and dipping strawberries.  These small ones are good for two, or maybe four, people.  They can be a little dangerous because of the candle underneath and are not heavy or very stable.

On the other hand, the big,  heavy duty white Le Creuset, is very stable and ideal to use on your buffet table.  Nothing to plug in and you can keep any dish warm.
