Sourdough Pancakes using Selma’s Starter

Just a few weeks ago I received in the mail, all the way from the UK, a dry sourdough starter from a fellow blogger, Selma @ Selmas Table.  I have been following Selma for some time and I always look forward to her recipes and informative posts.  Check her site out as you will not … Continue reading

Apple Crisp for my 700th Post

Apples, apples and more apples!  My entire family likes apple desserts and I have posted a few such as Gene’s Favorite Apple Pie and an Apple Cheese Crisp.  Some family members do not like cheese or nuts in their apple desserts but they all love apples. This is my 700th post (actually this is 699 – I … Continue reading

Cheese and Herb English Muffins

When I first heard about the Fiesta Friday Challenge making use of two ingredients, yeast and herbs, I  already had the ideal recipe to contribute to this new party hosted by Catherine at CatherineCuisine and Angie at The Novice Gardener . This recipe appeared in an issue  of the Baking Sheet by King Arthur Flour (you have … Continue reading

Bread Bowls For Two

My first post in 2014 is a recipe by an American company, King Arthur Flour where I played a part in the correction of an ingredient in this recipe.  King Arthur Flour has, and will continue to be, one of my best baking sources. I absolutely love this company – buy AMERICAN!   First, a little history or you can … Continue reading

Apple Snickerdoodles

These cookies are crisp and scrumptious with a wonderful apple cinnamon flavor.  They are a perfect cookie to serve to the younger crowd on Thanksgiving when pies are not their choice of desserts.  Adults will enjoy them too.   I definitely favor this cookie over my other two snickerdoodles recipes.  This is another King Arthur Flour recipe and I … Continue reading

Sourdough Cinnamon-Apple French Toast

What a delicious light-textured yeast bread topped with apples, cinnamon and maple syrup.  There is no obvious sourdough flavor but I am sure the starter does add some depth to this great breakfast/brunch dish.  The crust has a crispy bottom and would make an excellent  pizza dough!  If used as a pizza cut the toppings … Continue reading

Portuguese Sweet Bread for the Mini Zo

Supposedly a southern New England favorite this recipe comes from the files of King Arthur Flour.  I just love their recipes and all of the products related to baking which they sell.  I have a Mini Zo now  which makes one pound loaves – perfect for two people or a small family.  See my post … Continue reading

Bacon Jam

This sweet and salty bacon spread is surprisingly good.  First the bacon is fried until crisp and then simmered in a slow cooker with onions, maple syrup, brown sugar, boiled cider and strong coffee.  The results are great and is a new recipe for me from King Arthur Flour.  Here’s to Camp Bacon in Ann Arbor, Michigan … Continue reading
