Raspberry Shortbread Hearts

Say Happy Valentine’s Day with these delicious shortbread cookies. They are an absolute favorite in my family.   If I did not make these I had to have Walker’s Shortbread on hand.  The addition of raspberry jam adds a nice sweet touch to the cookies.

Biscotti

A few years back my daughter-in-law and a few of her friends wanted to learn how to make biscotti.  I gave everyone different recipes so they could collect all of the ingredients, make the dough and we would bake them all at my home.  A lot of fun and a lot of different flavors.  This … Continue reading

Watermelon Cookies

These cookies are a lot of fun to make with kids.  They can help with coloring the dough and placing the chocolate chips on top of the cookies.  Then after they are baked, the finishing touch, is dipping the half circles in green frosting so they look like watermelon slices.

Gingersnaps

There are two molasses based cookies I like to make during the  Christmas holiday season, Gingerbread Men Two Ways and this recipe.  Gingersnaps are  a small, crisp cookie that are perfect with some hot chocolate.

Peanut Butter Cookies

Peanut butter is enjoyed in my family whether in a sandwich,  a stir-fry sauce or especially cookies.  See also Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

Doggie Biscuits

Of course I have to think about our 4-legged friends who like a special homemade treat (they get excited over any food offered them).  At one time when we had a lot of acreage we had 5 dogs.  Two were ours and 3 were a sister’s who at the time was stationed in Korea and … Continue reading

Kitchen Gadgets – Cookie Press

Everyone should own a cookie press.   There are 20 different dies (that’s what they are called) and 4 dies for whipped cream or pastry decorating.  The one I have is made in Italy, but I read recently that the Wilton Cookie Press was a good choice.  It is a fun gadget to use, however some people find them awkward, it’s … Continue reading

Snickerdoodles Two Ways

With a name like ‘snickerdoodles’ these cookies have to be good.  A type of sugar cookie that is rolled in a  cinnamon sugar mixture.   There are so many versions available and the first recipe is the one I have always used. I decided to provide a lower fat version from the Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa, which … Continue reading

Pizzelles Two Ways

These are delicate, thin and crispy cookies that you bake in a P. Flavored with anise this is a nice Italian cookie.  I have also included a recipe for a chocolate pizzelle with nuts, a little different from the traditional pizzelle.    See Kitchen Gadgets – Pizzelles Irons.
