Scuffins – Bacon, Cheddar and Apple

This is the third scuffins recipe I have made (and the last) and was just as good as the first, except there was no jam in the middle.   There are apple pieces so you get a touch of sweetness.  I guess for it to be a “scuffin” it should have jam  but with bacon … Continue reading

Scuffins – Strawberry Cream

This recipe appeared in a Better Homes and Garden magazine and has a different twist.  They have  lots of fresh strawberries inside and outside and then drizzled with a little icing to add more sweetness.  Of course I cannot forget about the strawberry jelly filling in the middle which really makes these scuffins special!   … Continue reading

Scuffins From Frog Hollow Farm

While reading a Better Homes and Garden magazine (at the dentist office) I saw recipes for “scuffins”.  Okay, so I asked myself what is a scuffin?  Luckily the magazine was recent and still available in the stores otherwise I would have asked my dentist if I could borrow it!  I mean with a name like … Continue reading

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia Seeds

I am sure many people have heard this “jingle” before in a commerical showing terra-cotta  animal and human heads, or Chia Pets,  with sprouts growing to  resemble fur or hair.  I  can kind of understand Scooby-Doo but Barack Obama,  President of the United States?  There is also one of the Duck Dynasty characters for sale … Continue reading

Breakfast Biscuits

Everyone in my family  enjoys fresh biscuits, especially for breakfast or brunch.  For dinner my mom use to fix us 4 kids these big biscuits using Bisquick and we would have them with butter and syrup.   I am sure there were times when something simple and inexpensive was in order for dinnertime. I frequently use  my Fiestaware glasses, silverware … Continue reading

Cornbread Muffins with Calendula Petals

I grow a lot of calendula flowers, or pot marigold, in my herb garden and they reseed like crazy and come back every year.  A pretty flower where you use only the petals to put on top of a salad or for a bright color accent in these muffins.

Blueberry Streusel Muffins

These Weight Watcher’s muffins are packed with blueberries and a delicious crumb topping.  Pretty good for only 4 points per muffin!  See also my recipe Banana Blueberry Muffins. These are much better than the store-bought Weight Watcher’s blueberry muffins!

Dried Cherry Muffins

I enjoy breakfast muffins that have  fruit in them.  I like the way the cherries stay whole (unless you chop them up) and not break down like blueberries or raspberries.  A good little  treat!

Sourdough Fruit Muffins

I have not used my sourdough starter in a recipe for 2 months, but my King Arthur Flour Baking Sheet arrived and there was a new recipe for muffins – perfect!  I have been feeding my starter  every week and I decided to put it to good use in these sourdough fruit muffins.  All I can say is … Continue reading
