Today is National Ice Cream Day so how about using Fruity Pebbles Cereal Ice Cream Bowls to serve your favorite ice cream? Many of us have made Rice Krispie treats some time in our lives and this recipe is just another version of this popular treat.
I didn’t realize Fruity Pebbles Cereal was celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021 until I bought a box. This cereal is inspired by the iconic TV show “The Flintstones,” – remember Fred and Barney and Fred’s daughter Pebbles. I do… The brand has become the top kids cereal with more than 1.4 billion bowls eaten annually! It’s a very colorful vessel to serve ice cream – think rainbows, summer, sunshine, ice cream, parties, fun…

Fruity Pebbles Cereal Ice Cream Bowls
Warning: Your pan and the mixture will get very hot so it is best not to let any young ones help make this. The mixture does cool off to where you can handle it with your fingers.
- non-stick cooking spray
- 6 tbsp. unsalted butter (I did use salted by mistake and the bowls were delicious)
- 1 (10 oz.) bag mini marshmallows
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 7 cups Fruity Pebbles or other colorful cereal – you almost use the entire 11 oz. box of cereal
- your favorite ice cream (I used Vanilla bean and some sprinkles on top)
Coat 6 small bowls or jumbo muffin cups with non-stick cooking spray. I used my muffin pan and only made 6 but I could have made 1 or 2 more. I brushed the spray around each well with a silicone brush.
Melt the butter in a large pot (I used a Dutch Oven). Add the marshmallows and stir until melted – this will take a few minutes. Add the vanilla and cereal, stir to coat. Remove from the heat.
Spray your hands thoroughly with non-stick spray. I first added a big ball of mixture to each well. Then I sprayed the bottom of a round spice bottle and slowed pressed the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of each well. Keep working at it until you get a nice bowl. I also used my fingers to get a smooth finish.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes before removing and filling with your favorite treat.
