My bees of 2020; bumble bees and my favorite honey bees!
This little bee loved these flowers and really stuck her head in deep; this is called a “butt shot” 🙂
Do bumblebees like mint? I think he was just moving slow early this morning…
Coming in for a landing – this bee knows what he wants…
Found it – yum-yum…
He sure loves the pollen in these flowers…
So much that he had to take a nap…
Feasting on my basil flowers – if you grow any plants for the bees make sure you have a basil plant or two! They love herbs…
The wings are so delicate but so effective…

So nice to see! 🙂
I know – they give me such pleasure and I am always willing to share with them 🙂
Lovely images!!!
Thanks Shy – I just added another great picture of a honey bee. I will hate to see them go…
Wow what beautiful photographs – now I see where the term “busy as a bee” came from!
Thanks TJ – they are busy little bees working hard for the benefit of the hive 🙂
The bees have been buzzing all over my herb bed right now. 🍃🐝
Herbs are one of the best plants to attract bees. This year I let my basil flower early and they were very happy 🙂
My basil plants and oregano plants are so tall, too. 😜🌿
Great captures of happy bees.
Thanks Karen – I sure did have some very happy bees. Basil is a favorite plant for them – of course any plant where they can get pollen for their hives 🙂
Great photos! I have to be careful around bees, because last time I got a terrible reaction that I’ve never gotten before. So I just stay away. I would need a long lens!
Thanks – I do get right up there to get a close picture. I have a long lens but did not use it. If I had a bad reaction I would be staying away from them too!
Very impressive images Judi! Our bees here have all gone to bed it seems. As soon as we have our first hard frost they disappear. But, come spring they’ll awaken and grace our gardens once again.
Thanks Ron – our bees are just about gone now too as it continues to stay cool. Spring will be a welcome sight!
Thank you, I also love the bees in my garden. I often find the native bumblebees sleeping In flowers overnight. And there is a seasonal change in the different species of bees, the furry bumblebees are the first to arrive in late winter and they are now starting to disappear. The European honey bees are now dominant.
Yes, I’m sure you know your bees with that garden you have. I always enjoy watching them and knowing I am contributing to their survival! Here in Michigan it’s been cool but no frost yet. My basil plants have few flowers left… – next year 🙂
Wonderful photos! We currently have snow on the ground and summer already feels so far away, it’s nice to be reminded of the warmth and the colour….
Thanks Sheryl – it’s thrilling to catch the bees at work! Snow on the ground – we have not had a hard frost yet – unusual for Michigan 🙂
gorgeous little creatures. and they keep the planet going! we have blue banded native bees here in OZ. they are so pretty and so industrious. and they adore basil plants!
