This “cookie” recipe appeared in “100 Best Cookies” by Better Homes and Gardens. Since I have been making Halloween covered pretzels why not make this yummy one with not only chocolate but caramel and chopped cashews. See also Pretzel Rods Covered In Chocolate.
Triple-Treat Pretzel Rods
- 14 oz. pkg. vanilla caramels, unwrapped (or use a Ghiradelli sauce already made in a convenient squirt bottle)
- 2 tbsp. 1/2 and 1/2
- 18 pretzel rods
- nuts, chopped (I used cashews but you can use any kind you want or a mixture)
- white chocolate candy melts
- dark chocolate candy melts
Butter a sheet pan and set aside. Melt the caramels with the cream stirring occasionally; keep on low. Drizzle the caramel over each pretzel rod, roll in nuts and set aside on sheet pan. Let them harden for 30 minutes.
Melt the chocolates and drizzle over the caramel and nuts. I set them in a short glass to dry completely.
For Halloween don’t use the nuts and roll in sprinkles such as lavender, orange and black.

Who doesn’t love pretzels and now you’ve made them irresistible.
Thanks Karen – they are darn good pretzels!
Yay! That’s any easy fun treat!
Very easy, quick to make and delicious!
These pretzels look delicious! I love setting them out in a vase or glass like you’ve done. These are perfect for a tailgating gathering too!
Thanks Julie – perfect treat for the football season. I love college football – Jim Harbaugh is Michigan’s coach so the city is very excited for this season. He was the quarterback for Michigan once, coached pro football and now he’s our coach – GO BLUE!
We have a new coach this year, and I like him but we are not very good. I’m calling it a building year. 🙂 It’s still fun to get together though!
Our coach is new too this year but he is the best and so far we’re playing great!
Lucky Michigan!
We hope so!!!
These would be a great treat for a party…very Octoberish! Perfect for FF.
Thanks Liz – perfect treat for a party 🙂
Pretzels are my favorite ever since I first ate them 15 years back at a mall in Decatur. I have tasted so many after that but I couldn’t forget my first love. They were too good. But I think your Pretzels are sure to beat them judi. Caramel and nuts is my fav combination. And these pretzel rods are simply to dive for. Yummmm…..
They really are good Ana – the caramel goes perfectly with the chocolate. When I need a quick dessert these are always a favorite! Have a great weekend 🙂
They look so good.
