Do you ever get in a rut and find yourself eating the same things for breakfast? I felt that way this morning and then I remembered a fellow blogger who often posts simple and healthy recipes for breakfast. Check out Lisa’s original recipe at simple pairings. This really hit the spot with a cold glass of milk! It will become a favorite choice for breakfast 🙂
These are ingredients I always have on hand and like Lisa said you can add, substract or substitute any of the ingredients to your taste. Here is her recipe which I have adapted.
Almond Butter Toast for Breakfast
- 2 slices Pepperidge Farm whole wheat 45 calorie/slice
- almond butter
- generous sprinkle of cinnamon
- small dash of sea salt
- ground flax seed, for sprinkling
- honey for drizzling
- sesame seeds for sprinkling
Spread the toasted bread with almond butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and top with a dash of sea salt. Dust with ground flax seed and drizzle with honey; finish with sesame seeds. Does this sound good? It sure was!

My mom used to make us toast with butter and a sprinkling of sugar on top. This reminds me of my childhood! 🙂
Patty – that is good to have childhood memories. I always combined sugar and cinnamon and then sprinkled it over the toasted and buttered bread 🙂
Ooo simple but yet, very yummy breakfast! 😛
Thanks Fae – Lisa has some good, quick recipes that are always good 🙂
