I use this kitchen gadget all of the time, whether I am taking the temperature of a beef tenderloin, turkey, water before adding yeast to it and so on.
I have a Thermapen thermometer made by Owen Instruments. It appears it is now made by ThermoWorks. I have a plain, grey one and now they come in all kinds of colors. The new version is fully sealed to be absolutely splashproof.
This is a very good quality gadget and in a matter of seconds you get an accurate reading. I have never been disappointed with the results and I have had mine a long time. It is worth paying the extra money for this instant-read thermometer.
My water is perfect before adding yeast to it. The water needs to be between 105°F and 115°F.
