When you want a slight onion flavor, a little crispness to your sandwich or maybe a salad fry up some of these tasty morsels.
Fried Shallot Condiments
- 1 cup thinly sliced shallots
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. black pepper
Soak the shallots in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. Combine the next 3 ingredients in a bowl. Drain the shallots and toss with the flour mixture.
Heat 1 cup peanut oil too 360°F. Shake off excess flour and fry in batches until golden, just a few minutes. Transfer to a paper towel to drain.
