Soup Mix

There are 13 different beans and peas that go into this soup mix.  Use whichever ones you like just end up with the same total amount when you are done.  Certainly you could cut the quantities in half if you do not want to make this much.

To be honest, I am not a lima bean fan so I substituted the small and large lima beans with other beans.  Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and other markets sell these in bulk quantities.

  • 1 lb.dried navy beans
  • 1 lb. dried pinto beans
  • 1 lb. dried Great Northern Beans
  • 1 lb. dried green split peas
  • 1 lb. dried yellow split peas
  • 1 lb. dried black-eyed peas
  • 1 lb. dried lentils
  • 1 lb. dried baby limas
  • 1 lb. dried large limas
  • 1 lb. dried black beans
  • 1 lb. dried red beans
  • 1 lb. dried soybeans
  • 1 lb. barley pearls

Combine all of the beans and peas and mix well.  Divide into 14 (2-cup) packages for gift giving and present with the recipe French Market Soup.
